Vietnamese strip manufacturer's latest hot rolled coil prices in the domestic market are in line with current market prices. A $90 per ton increase in production allows it to increase its domestic market share as well as become competitive with imports, prices for which have risen sharply over the past month.
Formosa Ha Tinh Steel (FHS) has raised its April shipping prices for SAE 1006 HRC compliant leather to US$845/t cif Vietnam. Prices for his non-film grades that passed SAE 1006 HRC and SS400/pipe are $840/ton and $835 US dollars per ton of francs respectively.
Overseas trade sources claim that the latest factory prices for hot-rolled steel reflect the current situation in the Vietnamese market for April deliveries. "I think they're very smart about pricing," says a regional merchant. "If they were taller, that would kill them. They are just right for taking care of their home market,” he adds.
