The oil produced on the territory of the country is only a raw material from which the final products demanded by consumers are made. Domestic oil product production enterprises are geographically located taking into account the following factors:
- The proximity or practicality of delivering crude oil from nearby developments.
- Consumption of finished products in the region.
- Convenience of distribution logistics.
Currently, oil refining is carried out at 34 large and 240 small enterprises. Most of them are in the department of the largest shareholders with a share of state capital, which allows you to confidently regulate the supply of finished petroleum products in volumes that are in demand on the domestic market, and eliminates the slightest possibility of a shortage.
Capacities of domestic refineries
Taking into account the refineries currently operating in the country, their production capacities are loaded by less than 94%, approximately 330 million tons of finished products per year. Added to this is the significant amount of storage used to meet seasonal peak demand.
So, even without the commissioning of new refineries, it is enough to increase the productivity of existing enterprises in order to eliminate any shortage in the domestic market. Issues of additional production of specific products from oil (for example, reagents for drilling rigs) are resolved in the format of submitting an application to their manufacturers.
