How to choose the first scooter
While the idea of buying a scooter or moped is a smart one, there are a few things you should know before buying your first scooter.
A moped is any two-wheeled vehicle with a 50cc engine. cm or less and with a top speed of about 30 mph or less. An example of a moped would be a powered bicycle that also has a small engine. However, a vehicle without pedals can still be considered a moped. Each state's Department of Motor Vehicles defines mopeds and scooters slightly differently, and people often use the terms interchangeably.
A scooter is a vehicle that is more powerful than a moped, but not as powerful as most motorcycles. They do not have pedals, but their engines are smaller than motorcycles, and riders can often put both feet in front of them while driving. Any vehicle, such as a moped, that can exceed the maximum speed for them as determined by local law is considered a scooter. For example, the Vespa is actually a scooter, not a moped.
Scooters have excellent fuel consumption. Some electric scooters even go over 100mpg, which is great compared to a car. If you're willing to sacrifice the ability to drive on the freeway and decide to purchase one of the smaller models, you can get even better fuel economy from your first scooter.
Scooters can be inexpensive. Be warned though… some of the newer scooters with all the bells and whistles (like bigger wheels, highway ability and stylish design) can be quite expensive. If you are concerned about the environment, a hybrid scooter or an electric scooter will cost more. However, on the lower level you can get a nice new scooter. So, in general, scooters are not that expensive. If you buy a used scooter, you will spend even less, and since scooters tend not to be used much, it will be almost like buying a new one!
Scooter insurance is cheaper than motorcycle or car insurance. This is another advantage when buying. You can buy a new scooter at a motor show. This will be a good investment in your life. There are many advantages from purchasing such a vehicle.
