It doesn’t matter whether you arrange a daily rental or want to rent a car on month in Kyiv, sooner or later the car will have to be returned. There are a few rules here that we would like to tell you about.
When should I return the car?
The return date and time are usually specified in advance. There are companies that offer exclusively short-term rentals. For example, for several hours or days. While other rental companies provide the vehicle for a long period of time: for several weeks or even months, allowing for long trips.
The time, date and place of receipt of the car opens the rental. You can pick up the vehicle from the company’s office or arrange with its representatives to meet on neutral territory and hand over the car.
But with the return, the responsibility lies with the one who rents the car. It is important to return the keys in a timely manner - otherwise you may be charged a fine in the form of payment for one rental day.
Other features of rental car return
As soon as the rental period ends, you must return the vehicle. And there are a number of key points that should definitely be taken into account in advance:
- Plan your time, consider not only the route, but also possible traffic jams and other unforeseen circumstances. Try to plan everything in such a way as to return the vehicle on time to the pre-agreed location.
- Clean the car interior. Clean up after yourself before returning the car. Throw away any trash that may have accumulated during the rental period.
- Take all your personal belongings. Of course, they are unlikely to get lost; if you leave something valuable, the rental companies will contact you and inform you about it. However, it is better to make sure for yourself that when returning the car, you did not leave your phone, wallet, apartment keys, etc.
- Fill the tank of the car if required by the rental company. Some companies only accept cars with a full tank.
- Prepare the keys - be sure to return them to the rental company in the quantity in which they were issued.
- Request a receipt for returning the car. This is necessary in order to avoid further problems with the company. You will have proof in your hands that you have closed your car rental.
And it is also important that before returning the car, be sure to inspect it for new damage: scratches, dents that could have occurred, for example, during a traffic accident. Some defects are covered by insurance, and some will be deducted from the deposit that you leave when renting a car.
