Several Italian rebar producers are stopping sales and seeking an increase of €20/t ($20.8) for deliveries scheduled for January. Mills have already increased their values this month and will continue to supply material until the end of this week.
Current quotes from producers are set at €320/t, ex-works basis, applicable to orders delivered before the end of this month. For contracts executed in January, asking prices are set at €340-350/t, ex-works basis. This represents a significant increase from the November asking price of €300/t, ex-works basis.
Current deals for December delivery are positioned in the range of €300-320/t ex-works basis. A number of valve plants will cease operations by the end of this week, and some have already suspended operations at their facilities. Activities will resume on January 7th.
Current deals are valued in the range of €560-580/t ex-works, including size premiums which average around €260/t. Domestic mesh contracts cost €410-420/t excluding transport costs - size premiums amount to an additional €300/t, according to sources.
