Tata Steel Netherlands announced the growth of production and supplies for the third financial quarter and nine months (FY25)
The production of liquid steel in the Netherlands amounted to 1.76 million tons in the third quarter, December (Q3), increasing compared to the previous quarter of 1.66 million tons and compared to the same period of the previous year from 1.19 million tons. Supply volumes slightly increased to 1.53 million tons from 1.5 million tons in the previous quarter and compared with the same period of the previous year from 1.3 million tons.
The production volumes for nine months amounted to 5.12 million tons, which is 54% more than 3.32 million tons over the same period a year earlier, and deliveries increased to 4.5 million tons from 3.89 million tons. TATA claims that an increase of 16% in the annual calculus is primarily due to the growth of production.
Tata Steel notes that data on supplies to the Netherlands include volumes shipped to TATA enterprises in the UK in the amount of 120,000 tons.
Tata Steel UK (TSUK) production and supplies of the company was significantly influenced by the closure of the steel factory in the port-Tolbot on September 30, as a result of which the production of liquid steel in the third quarter was reduced to zero.
“After the closing of the domain furnaces at the end of the second quarter of the 2025 financial year, TSUK successfully recruited its supply chain in order to continue customer service through the subsequent processing of the acquired substrate,” the company said.
Deliveries in the third quarter amounted to 560,000 tons, which is lower than the previous quarter of 630,000 tons and indicators of the previous year of 640,000 tons.
The volume of production for nine months amounted to 1.07 million tons, which is lower than the indicator of the same period of the previous financial year of 2.33 million tons, and deliveries amounted to 1.87 million tons, which is lower than the indicator a year earlier than 2.11 million tons. According to the company, the restrained dynamics of demand negatively influenced this indicator.
The TSUK company plans to build an electric arc furnace as part of its investments in the amount of 1.25 billion pounds in the site in the port-tollot port, 500 million pounds (626 million US dollars) of which come under an agreement on grant financing with the Great British government.
