EVRAZ North America announces its intention to make its largest investment, approximately $ 200 million, in its Western Canada steel production EVRAZ Regina (formerly known as IPSCO). In the next two years, investments will be directed to the installation of a new two-stage large diameter pipe line. This will expand the range of pipes produced, including the production of heavy-wall pipes, increasing the annual production capacity to over 100,000 tons.
EVRAZ is also pursuing a steelmaking renovation program, including a degassing process and the ability to increase the size of its steel plates. In addition, the capacity and size of the rolling mill will increase to produce thicker and wider coils.
Konrad Winkler, President of EVRAZ North America, said: “This investment will secure our position in the production of high quality products as well as reduce the cost of integrated large diameter pipe production in North America. We appreciate the role of the Provincial Government of Saskatchewan in working with us on the issues we face in steelmaking to help create a conducive business environment as well as provide an important tax incentive for new investments in the province's recent budget.
The benefit also enables EVRAZ to ensure the long-term stability and viability of more than 1,000 employees at Regina as we continue to meet more stringent industry standards and ensure our customers are 100% Made in Canada pipes. "
