Brazil shipped 52,430 tonnes of long products in February, double the 22,186 tonnes shipped in the same period last year, according to the Commerce Department.
Total sales follow a 73.9 percent year-over-year growth trend to $ 26.14 million FOB from $ 15.03 million FOB.
Rebar contributed 34,817 tonnes to total long product shipments in February, more than triple the 11,345 tonnes in February 2015.
Rebar sales more than doubled to $ 18.12 million FOB from $ 8.17 million FOB in the corresponding month a year ago, amid falling average prices to $ 520 /t from $ 720.59 /t.
Wire rod shipments increased 62.4 percent in February to 17,613 tons from 10,840 tons in the same period last year, while export value rose 16.9 percent to $ 8.01 million FOB from $ 6.85 million FOB ... The average price dropped to $ 455.29 /ton from $ 632.55 /ton.
