Esai Energy analysts predict that Russian exports via pipelines and from seaports in the Far East directly to Asia will increase by 50,000 barrels per day. While the rest of the increase, which is about 130 thousand barrels per day, will come from European ports. In total, export growth may reach 180 thousand barrels per day.
However, this does not mean that Russian oil exports to Europe will experience a significant increase. According to Esai Energy, the increase in exports through European ports will be associated with an increase in the supply of Russian oil to Asia from Europe. This will increase the competition for market share in Asia, in the same way as in Europe.
It's another matter how true these predictions are. A few weeks ago, Russian state-owned Transneft, the oil transportation and export monopoly, reported that Russian oil companies had requested access to Transneft's 215 million tonnes of export infrastructure in 2016, down 6.4 percent from 2015. year. The situation was reversed last year, as Transneft, which accounts for almost 90 percent of oil supplies abroad from Russia, transported 7 percent more oil than in 2014.
