The EU Commission intends to submit a proposal to liberalize the visa regime with Ukraine in April. Both sides are interested in making it easier for their citizens to travel, European Commission President Jean-Claude Juncker said Thursday after meeting with Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko in Brussels. Kiev paved the way for visa liberalization through a series of reforms.
Poroshenko welcomed the statement and said that both sides agreed on a joint summit on May 19. The Ukrainian president stressed at the same time that his country will carry out "its own improvements" in order to end the conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine and implement all the points of the Minsk peace agreement. "Unfortunately, we do not see anything like this from the Russian side."
