The latest data released by Chile's central bank indicates that copper exports fell sharply by 15 percent during the first three months of this year. The country's copper exports in the first quarter (January-March) of 2016 amounted to $ 6740 million in monetary terms. Then, as the Chilean copper exports generated $ 7975 million in January-March 2015.
During March, the country's copper exports totaled $ 2,419 million, down 12 percent from the previous year. Concentrate exports were down 7 percent from the previous year. Copper cathode exports were significantly lower and fell by almost one fifth in a year.
Throughout 2015, Chile produced 5.794 million tonnes of copper, thus maintaining its position as the world leader in copper production.
