In connection with the alleged violation of the budget law by President Dilma Rousseff, the Brazilian Parliamentary Commission voted to impeach. The issue of removing the president from office will be considered in the lower house of parliament. In order for the request to go to the Senate, it must be supported by two-thirds of the deputies during the vote on Sunday.
The Brazilian opposition is pushing for the president's departure by presenting to Congress a demand for Rousseff's resignation and an investigation against her on suspicion of involvement in tax violations and the use of public funds to fund his re-election. Earlier, Brazil's Supreme Court allowed investigators to open an investigation against two current cabinet ministers on suspicion of involvement in corruption at the Petrobras oil company. According to media reports, some of the money could have been used for Rousseff's 2014 election campaign.
