LUKOIL is building a large-scale gas processing plant in Uzbekistan

Russian oil company LUKOIL has begun construction of the Kandym gas processing complex (GPP) in Uzbekistan. On April 19, the foundation stone-laying ceremony for the Kandym gas processing plant took place.

The first stage of construction of the complex and the development of the Kandym group of fields involves the construction of a gas processing plant with an annual production of 7.819 billion cubic meters of commercial gas, 134.36 thousand tons of stable condensate and 212.9 thousand tons of elemental sulfur.

It is also planned to equip 77 project wells, erect a rotational camp, six well pads, external infrastructure facilities, two collection points and an export pipeline. The first stage of the project is scheduled to be completed at the end of 2018. The total investment in the project is estimated at more than three billion dollars.


Hyundai Engineering (South Korea) will provide equipment for the construction of the gas processing plant complex and the development of the Kandym group of fields. LUKOIL has been developing the Kandym project since 2004 jointly with the Uzbekneftegaz NHC. In addition, LUKOIL is implementing other projects in Uzbekistan. At the beginning of 2016, the cumulative production of natural gas at LUKOIL projects in Uzbekistan exceeded 32 billion cubic meters.
