Almost a million Ukrainians came to work in Poland in 2015

A new group of migrants has appeared in Poland, who came to the country for the first time after the outbreak of the armed conflict in the eastern part of Ukraine and in connection with the worsening economic situation. Ukrainians are mainly employed in repair and construction work and in the sphere of household services, as well as in agricultural work.

“In 2014, there was a sharp increase in the number of registered applications from Ukrainians,” says Gregory Dobroczek, a spokesman for the Polish National Bank. “We are dealing with a permanent group of Ukrainian citizens who regularly come to us. They come to us for several months, and then return to Ukraine, and next year they come to Poland again to work, ”the expert says. The main specialty of the visiting Ukrainians is wood processing and maintenance and help around the house.
