Over the next four years, licenses will be required to import steel into the European Union.
This is one of the mechanisms used to support the steel industry. The slogan of the European Commission - “Steel: preserving jobs and growth in Europe”, requires the introduction of an import license, which will allow better control over its size, and thus respond to its surplus. The system will operate for four years.
Imports of certain steel products are subject to EU prior review in order to provide advance statistical information to allow rapid analysis of import trends from non-EU countries. The most popular is long products, among which, due to their high strength and anti-corrosion properties, stainless steel products, such as a stainless square, are distinguished at http://lira -metall.ru/kvadrat-nerzhaveyushchiy used in many areas.
According to EU officials, “predictability of trade is necessary to be able to respond effectively to the problems of the EU steel market in connection with sudden changes in the global steel markets”.
This is especially important in the context of the current crisis in the steel market. “In order to facilitate the collection of data on goods subject to this Regulation, this requirement will begin 21 business days after the entry into force of this Regulation, so as not to impede the free movement of goods shipped to the European Union and to provide sufficient time for importers to request the necessary documents ”. At the same time, the system will not be introduced for the delivery of a net weight of 2.5 tons, carried out by firms located near the border areas.
