Japanese exports of stainless steel products during the month of March 2016 totaled 89,351 tonnes, up 18.1 percent from the previous month when the country's stainless steel exports totaled 75,645 tonnes.
The main export destination for Japanese stainless steel was China. Exports to China reached 17,746 tons, accounting for nearly 20 percent of Japan's total stainless steel exports for the month. Exports from Japan to China rose 33.2 percent compared to exports during February 2016.
South Korea is in second place with a total import volume of 14,429 tons. Stainless steel exports to South Korea also increased significantly, up 11.1 percent from a month earlier. The third largest export destination is Taiwan. Imports of Japanese stainless steel to that country totaled 9,897 tons, an increase of 67 percent over the previous month. Japanese stainless steel exports to the United States rose 15.1 percent from a month earlier to 3.501 tonnes.
The country's average export price of stainless steel products during March 2016 was $ 3,200 per tonne. The price increased insignificantly in comparison with the previous month, by 3.7 percent. Stainless steel exports generated $ 2,859 million in the month.
