Belarus negotiates to export electricity to Poland

Belarus continues to negotiate on the export of electricity to Poland, as First Deputy Energy Minister Leonid Shenets told reporters before the start of the Belarus Industrial Forum.

Leonid Shenets said: “As for the supply of electricity, these are contractual obligations, the work of business entities. At the same time, negotiations with Poland on the export of our electricity continue. There are export prospects ”.

He specified that Belarus is currently mainly exporting electricity to Lithuania.

“As a rule, this is emergency energy: either they have a lack of energy, or emergency situations happen. That is, we provide rather technical assistance, ”explained Shenets.

Speaking about the import of electricity from Russia, the Deputy Minister noted that one should always proceed from economic considerations.

“If in 2012 we imported about 7.9 billion kWh, today it is 2.5 billion kWh. The achievement of such a result was achieved, first of all, due to the introduction of highly efficient capacities, as well as a reduction in the cost of electricity, ”he said.

The Belarusian Industrial Forum takes place from 3 to 6 May in Minsk. More than 200 exhibits are registered on the forum. Among the participants are leading representatives of various sectors of the local and foreign industry. A rich business program is planned, the main event of which is the plenary session “Innovative and investment development of the industry of the Republic of Belarus”. In addition, there are a number of round tables, conferences, presentations dedicated to the most pressing issues in the industry. It is assumed that long-term agreements will be signed within the framework of the forum.
