Russian companies are focused on solving the problems of Iran's energy sector, as the country is now open to international cooperation.
Gazprom is planning a meeting in Iran soon to discuss, among other things, cooperation on Iranian gas projects, as well as R&D programs, a spokesman for the Iranian Oil Industry Ministry said. He said that the visit will take place within the framework of talks between Iran and Russia on energy issues, which began a year ago. Gazprom is reportedly going to send a large delegation to Tehran.
There is also information that the Russian company Uralmash, the Russian corporation OMZ, are going to build drilling rigs in Iran. At the moment, both companies are planning to build 24 drilling rigs. The Iranian company will provide about 25 percent of the equipment in the first stage of cooperation, which is 12 drilling rigs. The company intends to increase its stake in the second phase of construction of the remaining 12 units.
