Toyota will recall more than 1.5 million vehicles from the USA

Toyota Motor is recalling 1.58 million vehicles from the United States to replace Takata's airbags, which have a potentially damaging defect.

According to Kyodo agency, in total, due to this defect, the Japanese car company recalled 4.7 million vehicles from the United States among nine models from 2006-2011, including the Toyota Yaris and Lexus IS.

In some cases, the Takata airbag deployment system installed in Toyota vehicles has been found to throw metal parts into passengers. This defect in the pillows has resulted in more than ten deaths worldwide, Kyodo notes.

The Japanese company Toyota Motor was at the center of a scandal over the manufacturer of safety systems Takata for its vehicles in 2014, when it became known that airbags sometimes spontaneously deploy while the car is moving.
