Russia will allocate more than a trillion rubles for the development of the defense industry

For the program for the development of Russian weapons in the state budget for the period 2016-2020, 1 trillion rubles will be allocated. 67 million rubles ($ 16.7 billion), as announced by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Rogozin.

According to him, the program approved by Prime Minister Dmitry Medvedev includes projects related to strengthening the state military-industrial complex, in particular, enterprises working on this complex will strengthen human resources and replace the import of military goods previously supplied from NATO states, members of the European Union and Ukraine, for their own production.

Rogozin noted that another important element of the program is the production of gas turbine engines for propelling ships and aircraft. The first goal of the new program is to increase the technical production potential of the military industry from the current 97 percent to 100 percent, the Deputy Prime Minister said. The second most important challenge is the commissioning of 929 new production facilities.

It is also necessary to ensure a 40 percent share of innovative products in the total volume of the defense industry by 2020. Reporting on his decision to approve a new version of the development of the military-industrial complex, Medvedev pointed out the need to improve the technical level also in connection with the requirements of global competition.
