Vallourec supplied steel for the construction of infrastructure for the FIFA World Cup

The FIFA World Cup will take place in Qatar in 2022, but the construction of the necessary infrastructure has begun a long time ago. Vallourec provided profiles for the construction of the stadium infrastructure in Doha.

The Qataris decided to build not only the stadium, but the entire area, which in addition will include a huge shopping center with a hypermarket, five multi-purpose department stores, more than 400 shops and 20 restaurants, as well as a five-star hotel, a residential complex, a cinema with nineteen halls and an amphitheater with a domed glass roof.

The first phase of construction in Qatar involves the construction of a shopping center with an area of ​​256,000 sq. meters on three floors and parking for 7 thousand cars, of which 3 thousand will be underground. In addition to shops and restaurants, the center is planning a family entertainment area called Adventure Island. The mall will reopen in August this year and will have 20 million visitors in its first year.

In total, the first phase of the project covers an area of ​​50 football fields and is expected to cost $ 1.2 billion. The Al Rayyan stadium itself will be one of twelve steps to be completed towards the championship. The complex is located 20 minutes' drive from downtown Doha, at the intersection of Al Rayyan Street and Selebreyshin Road. Vallourec envisages the supply of 475 tons of hot-rolled sections for the construction of a shopping center. Delivery and related services were completed in one go, allowing for cost optimization.
