Russian sawnwood exports to China have grown significantly

Российский экспорт пиломатериалов в Китай существенно вырос
The latest report, issued by the International Wood Markets Group, shows significant growth in Russian sawnwood exports to China during the first four months of this year. Exports grew by more than 50% during this period compared to the corresponding four months in 2015. At the same time, exports during April experienced a sharp increase of almost 81% compared to a month earlier.

Lumber manufacturers began to diversify their export destinations in 2008 following the collapse of the US construction market and furniture manufacturing in Europe, but these markets did not experience a significant downturn in Russia. Along with lumber in modern furniture production, adjustable supports are used for the manufacture of tables, cabinets, pedestals, retail shelves, while a wide range of plugs and supports on http://zaglushki-plast.com.ua/katalog/opory/reguliruemye is used both in the furniture and construction industries.

Russian exports of sawn softwood to China in the early period of the year amounted to 3.6 million cubic meters, which is almost 50% higher compared to the export of 2.4 million cubic meters in January-April 2015. Exports during April hit record highs of 1.55 million cubic meters, the highest monthly exports to China ever achieved so far. Exports in April 2016 rose sharply by 81% compared to exports of 853 million cubic meters in March this year. The sudden surge in exports was primarily due to the temporary disruption in sales to the Middle East and North African markets. In addition, the movement of exports from weaker markets such as Egypt also boosted exports, the report said.

According to the International Wood Markets Group, Russia has made significant progress in developing supply chains to Asian markets, especially China. On the other hand, continued efforts to penetrate the region deeper are still being considered. Lumber sales to China have seen steady growth since then. However, exports have not grown significantly compared to 2011.

The softwood price index fell 1% during the first quarter, hitting its lowest level since 2006. Softwood prices have declined in several countries around the world, including Russia, Canada, France and New Zealand. In some markets, prices have shown signs of bottoming out. In the United States alone, the Southern Region has seen an increase in fiber costs over the past few years.

Wood Fiber Hardwood Price Index (HFPI) fell 0.6% in the first quarter of this year. Russia, Eastern Canada, France and Germany all reported declines in hardwood prices. Index in infusion
