Putin in Beijing: Strengthens Strategic Partnership

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Saturday during his visit to Beijing stressed the importance of Russian-Chinese economic relations and stressed that Russia and China have "practically identical opinions" about the situation in the international arena.

Putin, accompanied by many ministers and heads of Russian companies, during talks with Prime Minister Li Keqiangiem, said that relations between the two countries are based on common economic interests. He praised the "comprehensive strategic partnership" between the two countries.

The Russian leader also met later with President of the People's Republic of China Xi Jinping. During the interview, he said that the citizens of both countries have a strong desire to "strengthen and develop" Russian-Chinese relations. “I am confident that our countries can achieve even greater success in areas such as trade, investment, agriculture, energy and, of course, advanced technologies, which are priorities for us,” Putin said. The head of the Celestial Empire said that in a changing and increasingly complex international environment, we must redouble our joint efforts to maintain the spirit of partnership and cooperation.

The purpose of Putin's visit to China is to strengthen the "strategic partnership." Moscow wants rapprochement with Beijing to make up for bad relations with the West. Presidents Putin and Xi agreed to create a bilateral commission, investment cooperation at the level of first deputy prime ministers to strengthen the economy. The implementation of earlier projects, in the main, led to the strengthening of military cooperation, the result of which was an increase in the export of Russian weapons to China and the conduct of joint maneuvers of the two countries.
