Another project with an environmental component is being implemented at the plant of the wrong Ilyich

Mariupol Metallurgical Plant named after Ilyich (Ilyich Iron and Steel Works named after Ilyich, Zota Nekrasov) Metinvest Group in September this year will overhaul converter # 2, including the improvement of the gas cleaning system.

The press service of the enterprise said that the cost of the work will amount to more than UAH 230 million.

The overhaul of the converter was presented in April 2016 at a meeting of the management of Metinvest Group and Mariupol metallurgical plants with local activists and environmentalists. It is part of the Mariupol Environmental Protection and Rehabilitation Program for 2012-2020.

- Overhaul of converter No. 2 is our next project with an environmental component, says General Director of the Ilyich Plant Yuriy Zinchenko, improving the environmental situation in Mariupol. Despite all the difficulties in the operation of the enterprise associated with logistical problems and unfavorable dynamics of prices for finished products, we continue to finance environmental programs. The amount of such investments since 2012 has amounted to more than UAH 600 million.

In 2014, MMK im. Ilyich completed the first stage of reconstruction of the filters of the converter shop, having completed the modernization of the gas cleaning of converter No. 1. In addition, in 2015, the company abandoned the outdated open-hearth production. The plant also continues the largest environmental project in the history of independent Ukraine - the reconstruction of the sinter plant with a total cost of $ 220 million.
