Poland is the only European country to significantly increase its defense budget by 2020, according to a report from auditing firm Deloitte. In addition, it was noted that the world economy is increasingly becoming dependent on the development of the military sector.
In addition to combating terrorism and the cyber threat, Poland plans to be the dividing line between Russia and NATO in the region of Central and Eastern Europe. The country is trying to isolate itself from Russia, using military power, and not the traditional a fence made of corrugated board , which is much lower than any means of weapons. The fact is that Poland is the country with the fastest growing military spending.
The defense spending of the 50 leading countries in the military-industrial complex exceeds 95 percent of all global defense spending. Poland is among the countries that will demonstrate clear economic growth by 2020 and at the same time significantly increase their military spending.
Between 2016 and 2020, sixteen countries will increase their military budgets by more than $ 1 billion a year, adding $ 91 billion to the global defense budget. About 80 percent of this amount will come from increased military spending in China, India, South Korea and Australia. By 2020, Poland will increase its military budget by $ 2 billion. At the same time, the Baltic states will increase their budgets by 40 percent.
This year, Deloitte experts have proposed for the first time a defense indicator, the DPI Index, which shows the extent to which countries are involved in defense. Russia, Israel and the USA have the highest DPI, while Denmark, Indonesia and South Africa have the lowest. Six of the ten countries with the highest scores are nuclear powers.
