The crisis in relations with Russia will cost Turkey $ 1 billion in export cuts in the first 7 months of this year, Turkey's customs minister said this week, after both countries took huge steps towards normalizing relations.
Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan met on Tuesday and announced an acceleration in trade and energy ties and a renewed relationship after Turkey shot down a Russian fighter jet near the Syrian border last year.
“After the incident with the downed military plane, Moscow imposed sanctions on Turkish exports, which affected the total volume for 7 months,” Customs Minister Bulent Tufenkci commented on the situation in Ankara.
