Germany increased gas imports from Russia by 11.7% to 2 billion cubic meters in the first half of August compared to the same period last year, Gazprom head Alexei Miller told reporters.
“August is traditionally the season for pipeline repairs and a decline in gas demand. But our partners in Europe continue to increase their purchases of Russian gas. For example, Germany in the first half of August shows an increase in gas imports from Russia by 11.7% compared to last year, and by 22.1% compared to deliveries in July. Deliveries within two weeks amounted to almost 2 billion cubic meters, ”he said.
Miller said earlier that from January 1 to August 15, Gazprom increased gas supplies to Europe by 10.4% compared to the same period last year, in physical terms - an increase of 9.9 billion cubic meters. He noted that the demand for Russian gas increased in Austria by 16.8%, Greece by 66.2%, Poland by 21.5%. Gazprom's exports are growing steadily in France - 29.3%, in the UK - by 62.1%, the Netherlands - 95.6%, in Denmark - by 137.3% - countries that consume gas via the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline.
In 2016, Gazprom may increase gas exports to Europe by 6.6% to 170 billion cubic meters - the figure will at least be in the range of 166-170 billion cubic meters, Miller said earlier. Gazprom increased gas exports to the CIS countries in 2015 by 8% compared to the previous year - to 159.4 billion cubic meters.
