Zaporizhstal conducts active environmental modernization of the sinter plant

Zaporizhstal is completing work on the foundation, as a result of which more than 300 tons of metal structures have been assembled. At the moment, the installation of gas cleaning equipment for sinter machine No. 6 is underway. This is the last sintering machine of the plant, which will be equipped with the latest gas purification. Since 2013, gas cleaning equipment for sintering machines No. 1 and 2 has been installed. New gas cleaning equipment for sintering machines No. 3-5 have already been built and are operating in pilot operation mode.

“We are systematically working on the ecological modernization of the sinter plant. The consistent construction of gas purifiers has been going on for more than two years. By the end of October, the gas cleaning of the sixth sinter machine will be completed and the entire gas cleaning complex of the sinter plant will be fully commissioned, which will give a visible result of reducing emissions, ”said Rostislav Shurma, General Director of PJSC“ Zaporizhstal ”.

Reconstruction and installation of gas cleaning systems of the plant's sinter production are carried out in accordance with the program of environmental modernization of the plant and the Tripartite Agreement between the Ministry of Ecology of Ukraine, the Zaporozhye Regional Council and PJSC Zaporizhstal.

The supplier of the main gas cleaning equipment for the sinter shop of the plant is the largest Ukrainian manufacturer - the Berdichev machine-building plant "Progress", the draft equipment is supplied by the company REITZ (Germany).

The modern gas cleaning system provides air purification from dust on sintering machines - up to 20 mg /m3, for sulfur dioxide - below 400 mg /m3, which corresponds to European emission standards, and also allows to gradually reduce the discharge of sludge water from the sinter plant's circulating cycle.
