Norway is building a massive steel fence on its short border with Russia to prevent refugees from entering. Apparently, the government is counting on the constant pressure of the migration flow.
The Norwegian government has already begun building a fortified border fence with Russia. According to official statements, it is about preventing the penetration of refugees through the territory of Russia, according to the newspaper PoliZette. The fence will be made of steel and will be only 200 meters long and about 3.5 meters high. Its configuration is a triangle that forms along Norway, Russia and Finland. The Norwegian government has explained that the work will be completed before winter.
Last year, 23,000 refugees applied for asylum in Norway, of which 5,500 were to be brought into the said border section in Storskog. This year, the number of permits has dropped by about 95 percent due to tightening border security, which could cause unforeseen situations.
