Italians are a key recipient of Russian gas in southern Europe. The largest importers of gas from Russia on the mainland are only Germany and Turkey.
Why did the Italians refuse? Perhaps the key is the LNG revolution. More raw materials appear on the market, which means more competition. And the second reason is that Italians have invested significant amounts in Kazakhstan.
