According to the latest statistics released by the World Steel Association, global steel output was 134.125 million tonnes in August this year. Monthly production growth was modest at 1.9% compared to August last year.
The ten largest countries in the world in terms of total crude steel production in August 2016 are:

2. Japan 8918 thousand tons
3. India 8141 thousand tons
4. USA 6703 thousand tons
5.Russia 5924 thousand tons
6.South Korea 5866 thousand tons
7.Germany 3511 thousand tons
8.Turkey 2853 thousand tons
9. Brazil 2768 thousand tons
10. Taiwan 1,890 thousand tons
The list of the top ten world-producing countries in terms of cumulative steel production in the period January-August 2016 is distinguished by the fact that Ukraine took the 10th position, displacing Taiwan.
