The Philippines is the world's largest supplier of nickel ore. Since July 1, the government has launched an environmental review, which has resulted in the Philippines closing 10 mines, including 8 nickel mines, pushing the global nickel price higher.
This was announced by the Philippine Department of the Environment in a report on the latest mining results.
Back on August 1, the President of the Philippines warned mining companies to keep the mines in strict compliance with environmental regulations, otherwise they would be closed.
