During the Russian investment summit, Rusal stated that the price of aluminum will be stable next year, namely between $ 1,600 and $ 1,700 per tonne. The forecast is based on China's continued productivity control policy and global aluminum inventories have declined.
Aluminum suppliers, especially for the transport and packaging industry, face high competition. The baseline for aluminum prices is around USD 1,560 per tonne in 2016.
Rusal has been the world's largest aluminum producer for many years, but was replaced by a Chinese producer last year. Considering that aluminum prices are in a depressed state and the market is experiencing an oversupply, Rusal closed their factories and reduced their production capacity.
