Lukoil is going to start implementing investment activities in Iran next year in order to get real products in at least 2-3 years. Lukoil plans to sign an agreement in the fall of 2017 on the Iranian fields Ab-Timur and El Mansuria.
In addition, Iran is discussing with Lukoil the company's proposal for the Anaran field. In December 2015, Lukoil sent its proposals to Tehran to study the largest fields located in the north of the Persian Gulf and the Anaran block, where it previously conducted geological exploration in a consortium with Statoil. As a result of the work, the Azar and Shangule oil fields were discovered.
The companies previously discussed with the Iranian authorities the possibility of developing the fields, but the contract was not concluded. In 2007, Lukoil was forced to withdraw from the Anaran project after the introduction of international sanctions against Iran. In 2013, Iran reimbursed the company $ 60 million for the Anaran project.
Following an agreement between international mediators and Tehran, Lukoil said the company still retains significant interest in Iran's oil and gas projects.
