US stainless steelmakers have demanded that two Indian stainless steelmakers, previously removed from their existing anti-dumping duty list, be reinstated with immediate effect as they resume their dumping into the US market.
Carpenter Technology Corporation, a group of seven American stainless steel manufacturers; Crucible Industries LLC; Electralloy, a division of GO Carlson, Inc; North American stainless steel; Outokumpu et al. Demanded the restoration of the anti-dumping duty for Indian Viraj Profiles and Venus Wire Industries Pvt. Ltd.
It should be noted that these two Indian stainless steel producers were exempted from the anti-dumping duty by the DOC. The Commerce Department said duties would be reinstated if dumped stainless steel products can be proven to enter the US market.
According to American manufacturers, the aforementioned Indian firms have resumed dumping supplies of stainless steel products to the United States, and therefore anti-dumping duties should be refunded in accordance with the current rule.
