China has pledged to phase out its metallurgical capacity, but Chinese companies are still launching new furnaces. One of them is at the Zhanjiang factory of the Baosteel company.
The construction of the plant began in 2011, after the approval of Baosteel and the city authorities - Zhanjiang Prefecture. The first furnace with an investment of $ 8 billion began operation a year ago, and in the first half of this year reached an average daily output of 11.5 thousand tons. At present, it has already reached its full production capacity - 8.2 million tons of liquid iron and 8.9 million tons of steel per year. Steel is produced not only for the domestic market, but also for export to other countries, including India and Spain.
Furnace No. 2 was launched in mid-July, construction of which began in May 2014. In addition to the kiln, there are two sinter plants and coke ovens.
