Russia could begin supplying wheat to Venezuela by the end of this year, if both sides agree on a draft document on food safety. Venezuela relies almost exclusively on imports to meet its wheat demand, importing about 120,000 tons of grain from the United States and Canada every month.
Rosselkhoznadzor also says it is interested in supplying wheat to Thailand and increasing exports to Indonesia and Iraq. In 2015-16, Russia exported a record 33.893 million tonnes of grain, including 24.604 tonnes of wheat, surpassing the United States and Canada.
