Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Turkish counterpart Recep Tayyip Erdogan agreed in Istanbul, on the first day of the World Energy Congress, to build two lines of the Turkish stream.
This was announced after the meeting between Putin and Erdogan by the chairman of Gazprom Alexei Miller. He said that in accordance with the agreement reached, both threads of the Turkish stream should be ready by December 2019. Thanks to this gas pipeline, gas from Russia along the bottom of the Black Sea to reach the European part of Turkey.
As you might expect, the gas pipeline project was the main topic of negotiations between the two leaders. Putin and Erdogan also discussed plans to build a nuclear power plant. The Russians should build it in the south of Turkey in Akkuyu. The value of these investments is estimated at almost 18 billion euros.
In Istanbul, the 23rd World Energy Congress was attended by representatives from 85 countries, including 250 ministers and other important decision makers in the energy sector.
