In the first half of November, the EU will submit a legislative proposal to grant China the status of a country with a market economy. This issue is important, in particular, in the context of the challenge in connection with the application of price dumping by China in the metallurgical industry.
The issue of the status of a market economy in China is of great importance from the point of view of European customs policy. Since the instruments for protecting the European market have not been effectively implemented.
On November 9, a statement is planned on the proposal of the European Commission on new rules and methodology for trade defense instruments. The European Commission was supposed to take measures to resolve the crisis in the steel market, which is associated with the dumping prices applied by China. However, information has emerged that there is no agreement on whether the so-called minimum dumping margin should be removed, which would have allowed the introduction of anti-dumping duties.
