The National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC) has drilled about 3,313 meters of offshore oil and gas wells using its own drilling fleet during the first half of the current Iranian fiscal year (started March 20).
The company has drilled 8 offshore oil and gas wells within six months, the SHANA news agency reported on November 6. The drilling operation includes 1,552 meters of workover wells, as well as 1,791 meters of development.
With 157.8 billion barrels of recoverable oil reserves, Iran has the fourth largest oil reserves in the world. The Islamic Republic also has 34 trillion cubic meters of proven gas reserves, which is 18.2 percent of the world's total gas reserves and places the country among the leaders in the ranking.
