China expresses grave concern about the European Union's protectionist measures against Chinese steel products, the Ministry of Commerce said on its website.
The ministry issued a statement in response to the latest EU decision to adopt temporary anti-dumping measures against imports of Chinese seamless steel pipes, based on preliminary studies.
The glut of the global steel market is fueling trade disputes between China, the world's largest producer, and other producers such as the United States and the European Union.
High tariffs on imports of Chinese goods could seriously hurt Chinese companies, the ministry said. “China is ready to intensify exchange and interaction with the European side and properly solve the problems of the steel industry,” the ministry said.
