The Turkish parliament has ratified a law for the construction of a Russian-Turkish gas pipeline stream. Voting took place as follows: 210 votes for and 7 against.
Ankara and Moscow signed an agreement on a gas pipeline in Istanbul on October 10, after Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Russian President Vladimir Putin held a meeting to normalize relations after the crisis. It is planned that the offshore section of the Turkish stream will include four strings with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters.
Thanks to the construction of the Turkish stream, the EU has the opportunity to receive gas along a route that does not pass through the territory of Ukraine. But the US government is opposed to the project. The United States would like to bring LNG to the European market. At the same time, the additional inflow of Russian gas to Europe is competitive.
