Professional hackers attacked the industrial group ThyssenKrupp. According to the company: “This was a professional attack that may have come from Southeast Asia. According to our analysis, the attack procedure was mainly aimed at stealing technological know-how and research results in the field of industrial solutions (industrial espionage). In addition, the systems of the Steel Europe business district were used ”.
The attack was at ThyssenKrupp's own information security center at the CERT (Computer Emergency Response Team), which is continuously monitored and analyzed. The Chief Information Officers (CIOs) of all lines of business were involved in identifying the attacks. The affected IT systems were cleaned up with appropriate countermeasures at the local level. Since then, ThyssenKrupp's IT systems have been under constant threat of repeated cyber attacks, as shown by 24/7 monitoring.
