Brazilian iron ore exports totaled 31.439 million tonnes during November. This is up 12.3% when compared with exports during the corresponding month last year, when the country exported 28,000 million tonnes of iron ore.
In addition, the country's total export value increased substantially, by almost 37% year-over-year, from $ 90.0816 in November last year to $ 123.4 million in November 2016. On average, the export price has also increased significantly this year, rising 22.0% year on year to $ 39.2 per tonne FOB in November. While Brazilian iron ore exports averaged $ 32.2 per tonne FOB in November 2015.
The largest importer of iron ore from Brazil during the month was China. Imports to China amounted to 18.990 million tonnes, worth $ 707.5 million. Export prices averaged $ 37.30 per tonne.
Brazil exported 2.292 million tonnes of iron ore to Japan during the month. Japanese imports from Brazil are estimated at $ 96.014 million. The average export price was $ 41.9 per tonne. The Netherlands came in third with 1.969 million tonnes. The total import value for the country was $ 88.738 million. Brazilian ore imports in the Netherlands averaged $ 45.10 per ton in November this year.
Other key importers of iron ore from Brazil were Malaysia (1.076 million tonnes), France (887,307 tonnes), South Korea (657,774 tonnes) and Oman (573,297 tonnes).
