For 11 months of 2016, China increased its crude oil imports by 14 percent year on year to 344.63 million tons (2.577 billion barrels). The largest suppliers of raw materials to the Chinese market are Russia and Saudi Arabia.
In November 2016, oil imports from Russia to China increased by 18 percent compared to the same period last year and amounted to 4.6 million tons. Oil imports from Saudi Arabia rose even more. It amounted to 4.71 million, an increase of 29 percent.
However, compared to October, Saudi Arabia alone increased oil exports to China by 18 percent. At the same time, purchases of Russian raw materials decreased by 2 percent. It is worth recalling that the Chinese market is one of the most attractive for oil exporters.
