Steel production in South America dropped significantly during November 2016. Total monthly output fell 8.1% to 3.184 million tonnes. On the other hand, North American steel production rose 6.5% in November. The output was 8.844 million tons in November this year, compared with 8.304 million tons recorded in November 2015.
Argentina's steel production in November was 365,000 tonnes, down 9.8% from November 2015. Brazil produced 2.426 million tonnes of steel, down 4.8% from 2.548 million tonnes in November last year. Chile's output this year has dropped sharply by almost 10.7% to 90,000 tons in November. On the other hand, Colombia's total crude steel production this year is down 16.3% to 105,000 tonnes in November.
Total crude steel production in Canada in November of this year was 930,000 tonnes, down 3.4% from November 2015 production. The United States produced 6.226 million tonnes of steel, up 6.8% from 5.832 million tonnes in November 2015. Mexico's total steel production increased by almost 20% from 1.364 million tonnes in November 2015. The output amounted to 1.635 million tons in November this year.
