ThyssenKrupp acquires all shares of Atlas Elektronik, which was the main shareholder. Atlas Elektronik is a joint venture between ThyssenKrupp and Airbus Defense holding 51 percent and 49 percent influence, respectively. Upon completion of the transaction, ThyssenKrupp will be the sole owner of Atlas Elektronik.
Airbus Defense notes that the sale of shares in Atlas Elektronik, a provider of advanced marine technology, is part of a program that will allow the company to focus on its core business.
ThyssenKrupp emphasizes that Atlas Elektronik manufactures sonar systems, among other things, and has been an important technology partner for ThyssenKrupp Marine Systems for many years. “For many customers, technological capabilities in these areas are key to their supplier selection and are also of strategic importance in relation to the world's submarine shipbuilding programs,” says ThyssenKrupp.
The full acquisition of shares will facilitate cooperation in the development of new products to further enhance the flexibility and efficiency of production. However, the deal is subject to the usual regulatory approval.
