All formalities for the international pipeline were resolved after the agreement was ratified by the State Duma of Russia. Please note that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan signed a law earlier adopted by the Turkish parliament on the ratification of an agreement with Russia on the construction of a gas pipeline in early December.
The gas pipeline is to run along the bottom of the Black Sea from a compressor station in the region of Russia's Krasnodar to Turkey. It is expected that the gas pipeline will consist of two lines with a capacity of 15.75 billion cubic meters of gas per year each. The launch of both lines is scheduled for December 30, 2019, but the implementation of the second line will depend on the interest of the southern countries of the European continent in Russian gas.
However, the main purpose of the pipeline is to bypass Ukrainian territory. Thus, Russia is reducing its dependence on Ukraine as a transit country. Throwing large volumes of gas to the south of the European Union also hinders access to the fuel market from other producers, such as Iran, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan.
Nothing stands in the way of the construction of the Turkish Stream
