In general, this year, record volumes of daily export deliveries of Russian gas have already been set six times. In addition, the record result has been revised up to sixteen times since mid-October.
The main reason for the increase in exports is the growing demand for gas in Europe. Demand is mainly driven by low temperatures in most of the continent.
The new record is largely due to Nord Stream. The pipeline is currently pumping 167.4 million m3 daily, increasing capacity by 11.1 percent than was anticipated during the design of the pipeline.
According to analysts, if current exports continue until the end of the month, then January 2017 will become historic in terms of Russian gas exports to Europe. You can also say that the delivery will help set an export record for the current year. Exports to non-CIS countries peaked last year. Russia provided the countries of the European Union and Turkey with 179.3 billion cubic meters.
