Why did the shale gas project in Poland fail?

At the beginning of the decade, Poland was simply living on hopes for shale gas production. Based on a comparison of geological conditions, American experts have calculated that a trillion cubic meters of shale gas can be produced on the territory of this country, which will provide tens of times more raw materials than conventional fields.

Big and small companies pinned their hopes on profit. Nevertheless, despite the great interest, the project did not work out. Bureaucratic obstacles were one of the main reasons. It turned out that the Polish administration is not keeping up with the needs of gas seekers. In fact, it turned out that the procedures take too long. And during this time, there was a collapse in prices on the oil and gas market, and the project was simply not feasible.

In search of shale gas, Poland needed to produce at least 150 wells, but to date, less than half have been completed, only 72 wells. Despite this rather pessimistic information, the Poles do not exclude that the shale gas project may return in the future. Especially if there is an improvement in hydrocarbon exploration methods.
